Placards are one of the things that may be required by your AHJ and utility during their inspection of your solar installation before you can be given a permit to operate or PTO.
Placards are specifically specified in the National Electric Code or NEC. The NEC also has a list of specifications for these placards, such as those for the size of the placards, materials used, and color of the background and texts.
